A Panchayat is a body of elected representatives of the people to administer the affairs of the Panchayat Raj institutions. In the case of a Gram Panchayat, it is the main body that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and carries out the day-to-day administration. The main components of a Panchayat are: President: He is the head of the Panchayat. He presides over the meetings and supervises the overall activities of the Panchayat. Vice President: He assumes the responsibilities in the absence of the President. Ward Members: Representatives elected from each ward of the Panchayat. Standing Committees: To facilitate the decision-making of the Panchayat, they are formed for matters such as finance, development, welfare, health, education etc.

History of Thrikkur Grama Panchayat

Thrikkur Grama Panchayat is a scenic area located 10 km southeast of Thrissur city in Mukundapuram taluk. Spread over an area of ​​25.38 sq km, this panchayat was formed by dividing Thrikkur and Kallur villages in 1977 to form Nenmanikkara Panchayat. Although there are different legends about the origin of the name Thrikkur, the most important feature of this area is the historic Thrikkur Sree Mahadeva Cave Temple, located at a height of 150 feet on the banks of the Manaliyar river.
