History of Thrikkur Grama Panchayat
Thrikkur Grama Panchayat is a scenic area located 10 km southeast of Thrissur city in Mukundapuram taluk. Spread over an area of 25.38 sq km, this panchayat was formed by dividing Thrikkur and Kallur villages in 1977 to form Nenmanikkara Panchayat. Although there are different legends about the origin of the name Thrikkur, the most important feature of this area is the historic Thrikkur Sree Mahadeva Cave Temple, located at a height of 150 feet on the banks of the Manaliyar river.
